Where we’ve worked

Early-stage, and already on the ground.

Insect Factory is an established company, and the reach so far is real – built through workshops, one-on-one farm visits, and partnerships with organisations already embedded in Botswana’s farming community, rather than a slow build from a standing start.

Core disciplines — integrated pest management and beekeeping support

Botswana-based, working directly with the farmers we advise

What the training covers

Every session is built around the same core skills behind our own fieldwork: telling a pest apart from a beneficial insect, monitoring a crop closely enough to catch a problem early, and knowing when a pest actually justifies acting on rather than leaving to natural checks. Farmers and farm staff are able to make more of those calls themselves — which is the same principle behind everything else we do.

Why the partnerships matter

700+ farmers weren’t reached alone. Workshops run through the Botswana Farmers Association and Bantu Farmers put us in front of commercial and smallholder growers we wouldn’t otherwise meet; the Botswana Horticulture Council connects the work to the country’s wider horticultural sector, and iNaturalist Botswana supports the identification work everything else depends on. Each partner reaches a different part of Botswana’s farming community — together they add up to a lot more ground covered than one company visiting farms on its own.

African Falcon are friends in the same space – using birds rather than insects for pest control.
